Shadow of departed BMW hangs over new-look Sauber PDF Print E-mail

Sunday, 31 January 2010 11:41

VALENCIA: Swiss-based Sauber presented their 2010 Formula One car on Sunday with the shadow of departed former owners BMW hanging heavily over team bereft of major sponsors. The new C29's predominantly white livery bore more than a passing resemblance to last year's BMW-Sauber F1.09 while the team's official name remained BMW-Sauber, at least for the present for regulatory reasons, despite using Ferrari engines.

Founder Peter Sauber, a reluctant team principal after re-taking the helm at the age of 66 following BMW's decision to withdraw at the end of last season, said money was not an immediate concern however.

Well the successor to the E60 (which was the successor to the E39 but you already knew that) has been unveiled by BMW USA. I'm really just now starting to love the style of the Bangle inspired E60 especially the 550 and M5 so the new F10 may take awhile to grow on me. What do you guys think?

Upgrades complete! PDF Print E-mail

Monday, 21 September 2009 08:14

Well all the upgrades listed below have been complete. My Indy here in Smyrna really came through for me (Vinings Auto Repair). They really did some great work and the price was right. I really couldn't recommend these guys enough. I do enjoy DIY'ng many things on my car but there was some heavy duty work to be done here and lots of it and I just don't have the time and/or tools to complete much of this.

The new suspension feels great! With the Bilstein sport shocks and struts and new H&R springs the bizzy rides aggressive and sticks to the road like velcro now. The front end gap has been eliminated and stance is absolutely perfect! The ride is a bit on the harsh side comparatively but sacrifices must be made for performance. While I didn't notice a huge increase in power or performance specifically with the new Vanos seals I did get the TMS pulleys installed at the same time. Low-end torque feels pretty much the same but mid-range to high RPM feels much stronger than it already was. This car isn't "fast" by any stretch of the imagination but it's darn peppy now and quite a bit quicker than when everything was stock. I still get great gas mileage too so a win win here and I'm very pleased. I also feel much more confident on long trips now that the cooling system has been done with a new Stewart HP water pump and new Bosch alternator as well. I'm currently at 120k miles and plan on taking her to 200k and above so wish me luck. Anyways, thanks for checking in guys and here is a quick shot of the new suspension setup although it's actually settled in a hair lower since these pics which were taking only a day after the work was completed. This pic was taken here in Vinings, GA at West Village. Cheers!

Well I have some major upgrades coming soon. Here's the list

1. H&R Springs with Bilstein Struts and shocks
2. TMS pulleys
3. Replacing waterpump (with EMP high performance pump), Alternator, Coolant Reservoir and all hoses.
4. I have my Vanos seals in hand and will be getting those done soon hopefully.
5. Will have to get some new tires soon. Looking at the Hankook Ecstas on Tirerack. $133 for 245/40/18's so great price there. Willl try to get Pep Boys to match or come close or just order from Tirerack if need be.

Well that's about it. Heading to Perimeter Mall in a few min for a mini-photo shoot here in Atlanta. Will try to post pics of that later. Cya guys!!!
